We have a great opportunity for an  Advisor to join our Certifications, Approvals and Registrations (CAR) Team in Wellington, providing end to end application processing for a variety of hazardous substance authorisations, including;

  • Authorisation of test stations that inspect and test gas cylinders
  • Processing applications to import 1080 and compiling annual 1080 reports
  • Issuing register numbers for approved fabricators, tanks and gas cylinders
  • Maintaining various registers, including an administrator role for the compliance certificates register, and providing access to external users
  • Oversight of the LPG Association training scheme for approved fillers
  • Liaison with WorkSafe's Technicall information service for providing advice on hazardous substances related to CAR Team functions

You'll be interacting with a wide variety of external parties, from industry, compliance certifiers and other regulatory agencies.  Whilst there is a routine framework in which you will work, the role provides interesting and variable challenges, so you'll be someone who thrives on variety, can adjust quickly to changing volumes and can work independently with strong self-management skills.

The role provides a great opportunity for an entry level advisor to learn about the hazardous substances regulatory framework, which will open up future career opportunities.  The successful applicant will be support by technical experts within the CAR Team.

We are looking for someone who has energy, drive and initiative and who enjoys working in a challenging environment.   To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • The ability to work independently with a high attention to detail
  • An aptitude for technical or science based principles
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A dynamic, engaging and “can-do” attitude to your work
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
