Mahi Haumaru Aotearoa, WorkSafe New Zealand is New Zealand's primary workplace health and safety regulator. Our team of over 700 passionate staff contribute to supporting healthy and safe work for everyone in Aotearoa. Together, we work to address work-related harm, promote better work and connect the health and safety system.
The work we do is vitally important because New Zealand still experiences high rates of work harm. We are transforming our organisation and how we regulate health and safety, and we want people passionate about making a tangible impact for people and communities.
We are seeking to appoint a Head of Strategy & Policy to lead the direction of our strategic, statutory, and regulatory functions. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive – Strategy and Insights, this is a critical role in developing and enabling the achievement of our strategic direction. You will be responsible for ensuring the connectedness, cohesion and alignment of our operational practices and policies to our organisational strategy, ultimately mitigating operational risks and resulting in improved outcomes. This will require you to build strong working relationships with other enterprise leaders and to grow and empower a high performing team.
Great candidates will have experience in a relevant context, preferably with expertise in policy or strategy within a regulatory context. They will be committed to leading a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture where worker voice is sought and valued. They will lead with integrity and create an environment that supports our passionate staff to do their best work.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate commitment to achieving healthy work, safe work and equitable outcomes for all workers. You will be a thoughtful leader that sees the link between strategic objectives and frontline delivery. You will be visibly committed to achieving equity, champion te ao Māori approaches to regulation and use your leadership role to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
If you are passionate about making a difference for New Zealand and want to contribute to helping get more New Zealanders home healthy and safe, we want to hear you.
