About your team / Ko te tīma

New Zealand Mining Board of Examiners and Operational Support team advises WorkSafe on reporting and competencies for those working in New Zealand's extractive's industry. The team also administers examinations for applicants and issues and renews certificates of competence, among other functions.

We are a highly effective team which provides high quality advice and support to the Board. This includes providing secretarial support to the Board, providing advice on a wide variety of topics, implementing the Board's decisions, and working on projects.  We work out in the industry, engaging with industry organisations and individuals within the extractives industry.

 

About the role / Ō te tūranga

In this role, and in collaboration with the other Advisor Operational Support, you'll provide high-quality, customer-focused advisory and operational services, helping to ensure that our internal processes run smoothly and efficiently. Your contribution will be vital in driving continuous quality improvements, working alongside a dedicated team committed to supporting health and safety excellence across Aotearoa.

We're looking for someone who is process-focused and confident using technology to manage end-to-end systems. You'll bring a strong eye for detail and the ability to ensure that our Inspectors meet their reporting obligations accurately and on time. Your ability to build credibility and engage confidently with senior kaimahi will be key to your success.

 

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

  • Provide advisory and operational support for regulatory reporting, including processing notifications, monthly monitoring, and maintaining databases.
  • Manage data systems and tools such as Atlas and SharePoint, and the group mailbox.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by ensuring accuracy and consistency across reporting processes.
  • Support the Board of Examiners Secretariat and other High Hazards, Energy and Public Safety as required, assisting with administrative and operational needs.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contribute to team projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.

 

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • Experienced in developing and maintaining accurate data management systems and processes and proficient in using IT applications.
  • Adaptability and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment, managing various support, administrative, and reporting tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with solid numeracy and basic analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Proven relationship management skills, including the ability to navigate and maintain challenging professional relationships.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and proactive in taking initiative to complete tasks efficiently.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $80,037 to $105,342, and we anticipate appointing up to the midpoint.  Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
