About your team / Ko te tīma

Regulatory Effectiveness is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen regulatory focus and improve how WorkSafe understands risk, designs interventions, and evaluates impact.

The Product Stewardship team plays a vital role in ensuring WorkSafe's regulatory products, guidance and information remain effective, consistent and fit for purpose. Working closely with advisors, subject matter experts and governance stakeholders, the team helps maintain a coherent system that supports duty holders to understand and meet their health and safety obligations.

 

About the role / Ō te tūranga

As a Senior Advisor, you'll provide analytical and advisory support across a range of product stewardship activities. You'll contribute to the development and maintenance of regulatory guidance and instruments, prepare advice for governance and Ministerial processes, and help identify opportunities to strengthen the overall duty holder information system. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining analysis, policy thinking and collaboration to deliver meaningful public sector outcomes.  As a new function, this provides an exciting time to set up the team, framework and processes.

 

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

• Help shape the regulatory guidance that support safer workplaces across Aotearoa whether they're WorkSafe or stakeholder developed products
• Prepare clear, influential advice for governance and Ministerial audiences
• Lead the development of secondary legislation to ensure it's aligned with legislative intent, regulatory objectives and operational .
• Lead the development of briefings and recommendations that shape health and safety regulations and Approved Codes of Practice
• Analyse information to identify emerging risks, issues, and opportunities
• Apply stewardship frameworks to drive quality, consistency, and continuous improvement
• Assess stakeholder-developed guidance for endorsement, including Approved Codes of Practice
• Collaborate across teams to deliver well-informed and coordinated solutions
• Turn evidence and insights into practical recommendations that make a difference

 

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

• Demonstrated experience working in a regulatory, policy or advisory environment
• The ability to develop clear, practical guidance, regulatory tools or resources that deliver value
• Strong analytical skills and a talent for turning evidence into meaningful advice
• Confidence preparing high-quality advice and materials for governance or decision-making forums, and stakeholders
• Ability to identify issues and contribute practical solutions
• Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in policy, regulation, law, governance or a related field

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary is $112,754-$147,932 and the expected appointment base salary is $112,754-$124,480(KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
