About your team / Ko te tīma

Regulatory Effectiveness is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen regulatory focus and improve how WorkSafe understands risk, designs interventions, and evaluates impact.

The Product Design and Development team sits within Policy, Products and Services and is responsible for developing high-quality guidance, tools and education resources that help businesses, workers and WorkSafe understand and apply health and safety expectations in practice. Working closely with stakeholders, policy experts, legal advisors, designers and technical writing specialists, the team transforms complex regulatory requirements into clear, accessible and practical resources that support safer workplaces across Aotearoa.

About the role / Ō te tūranga 

As a Product Lead for guidance and education resource, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end development of practical guidance, tools and education resources that support WorkSafe's regulatory priorities. You'll bring together policy intent, operational insight and user needs to create clear, implementation-ready content that makes it easier for businesses, workers and other target audiences to understand and apply WorkSafe's expectations. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful technical writing and resource development work with national impact while collaborating across a wide range of disciplines and stakeholders. As a new function, this is an exciting time to be part of a team responsible for developing guidance and education resources for businesses and workers.

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

• Lead end-to-end development of guidance, tools and education resources from concept to implementation within agreed scope, priorities and timeframes 
• Translate policy and regulatory intent into practical guidance and education products
• Develop clear, accessible and user-focused product content
• Collaborate with stakeholders, policy, legal and technical experts to shape products and resolve issues during development
• Facilitate successful outcomes, while keeping people on the journey
• Ensure guidance, tools and resources are practical, accurate and ready for use 

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

• Proven experience leading end-to-end development of guidance, tools, education resources or similar written materials in regulatory, policy or public sector environments
• Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to turn complex information into plain-language guidance and learning resources
• Demonstrated experience translating policy or regulatory intent into practice, working with legal, policy and technical stakeholders
• Ability to create clear content for diverse audiences
• Strong judgement and problem-solving skills in complex environments
• Bring a positive can-do approach and actively support the team to deliver results
• Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in technical writing, policy, communications, education, service design or a related field

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the expected appointment base salary is $112,754-$124,480 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
