About your team / Ko te tīma
You'll join the Risk and Assurance team within our Corporate group. The team partners with leaders and kaimahi across WorkSafe to strengthen organisational resilience, support effective decision-making, and build capability across risk, compliance and business continuity. You'll work closely with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and governance committees, helping ensure WorkSafe can deliver on its important regulatory purpose.
About the role / Ō te tūranga
This is an exciting opportunity to work across WorkSafe and help strengthen WorkSafe's approach to risk, compliance and business continuity. As Senior Advisor Risk, you'll help shape and deliver a practical programme of continuous improvement, provide expert advice, build organisational capability and support leaders to manage these areas effectively. You'll influence organisation-wide practices, work directly with senior decision-makers and help shape an integrated approach to risk, compliance and business continuity.
You will be curious, analytical and practical. You will be comfortable working through ambiguity, asking the right questions and translating complex risk and compliance issues into clear advice and action.
What You'll Do / Ko tōu ake mahi
- Lead initiatives that strengthen WorkSafe's approach to risk, compliance and business continuity.
- Partner with leaders to embed effective risk, compliance and business continuity practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess and manage risks and controls.
- Perform control assessments and provide clear, evidence-based assurance advice and reporting that supports senior leaders, governance committees and accountable owners.
- Provide practical advice that helps leaders make informed decisions and supports continuous improvement.
- Develop and facilitate engaging workshops and capability-building initiatives that grow organisational confidence and awareness.
- Co-ordinate business continuity testing along with lessons learned to improve resilience.
- Prepare insightful reporting and governance papers for senior decision-makers.
- Review and improve, risk, compliance and business continuity frameworks, policies, processes and tools.
- Enhance and optimise WorkSafe's risk and compliance management systems to deliver valuable, actionable insights.
What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Practical risk, compliance and business continuity experience, with a sound understanding of legislative obligations, accountability, control design and control testing.
- Practical experience applying relevant frameworks and standards, such as ISO 31000, ISO 22301 or ISO 37301.
- Experience embedding risk and compliance frameworks in a complex
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering training, workshops or capability-building initiatives.
- Strong relationship management skills, with the confidence to influence and constructively challenge stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the confidence to navigate ambiguity and make sound judgements
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience
Nice to have:
- Experience in a regulatory or highly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting business continuity exercises and improvement
- Business continuity qualifications, such as BCI certification.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Power Platform, Dynamics 365 or similar reporting and workflow tools.

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework, the expected appointment base salary is $112,754-$124,480 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional).
